Recently, the Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) in US has announced the publication of the recently revised Standard Practice, ANSI/MSS SP-96-2017, and Terminology for Valves, Fittings, and Their Related Components, which has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a Revised American National Standard (ANS).
The first edition of MSS SP-96 was published in 1986. Today, it is widely used in the valve and piping industries and used for related education efforts. MSS SP-96 is a unique and important ANS on the subject of terminology for valves, fittings, and their related components. It is the only comprehensive ANS specifically for the valves and fittings industry. Well, industry will continue to benefit from having ANSI/MSS SP-96, with a common list of preferred terms and definitions, to improve communication and further promote standardization.
